to the Northeast Indiana Human Resources Association (NIHRA).  Our website is an informational website for current and prospective members. The Northeast Indiana Human Resources Association serves as the local chapter of the National Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) organization for the northeast Indiana area. We meet the first Monday* of each month from September through June.

  • Registration & Networking:               11:00 a.m.  - 11:30 a.m.

  • Lunch & Business News:                   11:30 a.m.  - 12:00 noon

  • Scheduled Program:                         12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m.            

*If a holiday falls on the Monday meeting day, the meeting will be moved to the second Monday of the month (for example, Labor Day's meeting in September). 

During our luncheon meetings we have a speaker addressing a current human resource topic which is aligned with SHRM's Body of Competency & Knowledge (BoCK).  We also spend time focusing on networking with our peers and providing employment opportunities/candidates. NIHRA members share their specific needs for staffing or information about members that may need employment for a spouse due to relocation. Members also share when their company downsizes and has qualified available employees needing jobs.

We find that many of our members utilize our Membership Directory to network specific issue needs for their company. Peers can provide insight into how their company handles or avoids that issue. The directory is now available to members only on the website.  New members are added on a monthly basis once applications are approved by the Executive Board. Members may also update their own personal information on the website in real time.

Phil Ginder and Jody Fosnough, Co-Directors of Communication, manage our e-mail communications which provide members with timely information regarding upcoming meetings, seminars, law changes, persons available for employment and job openings.

Free SHRM Membership to Active, Unemployed Members

Unemployment doesn’t have to keep active members of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) from being able to take advantage of the organization’s many resources when membership renewal time rolls around.

The global HR organization offers one-time free “transitioning membership” for up to one year as a way to help its members stay current on HR issues and provide them with the resources they need in their job search.

For even more convenience you can renew for two or three years of membership at a discounted rate for each year. To renew for two or three years of membership, contact the SHRM Member Care Center at (800) 283-7476, option 3 (U.S. only).

Do you need an invoice for reimbursement purposes? Don't worry. After renewing via the web; e-mail or call the SHRM Member Care Center at (800) 283-7476, option 3, and ask for a membership acknowledgment notice. You will receive it within 1-2 business days via e-mail in PDF format.
